Former Manchester City manager Sven-Goran Eriksson has no doubt Pep Guardiola will be a success in the Premier League.
Guardiola arrived in Manchester amid much fanfare and expectation in the off-season, following trophy-laden spells in charge of European giants Barcelona and Bayern Munich.
Barca fans were treated to 14 trophies during Guardiola s four years at the helm, which yielded three LaLiga crowns and two Champions League titles, while he guided Bayern to three consecutive Bundesliga crowns among other silverware.
Guardiola is gearing up for his first Premier League match, when City kick-off their campaign at home to Sunderland on Saturday.
And Eriksson who managed City for a lone season in 2007-08 is confident the Spanish tactician will deliver in…
Leny Yoro is relishing the opportunity to play in the Premier League for Manchester United, a division he described as the biggest in the world .
Yoro completed his £52million move to Old Trafford from Lille last week, signing a five-year contract with the option of a further year.
The 18-year-old became United s second signing of the transfer window following the arrival of Joshua Zirkzee from Bologna four days prior.
Yoro was thrust straight into Erik ten Hag s starting line-up for their 2-0 win over Rangers in their pre-season friendly on Saturday and impressed on his debut.
The French defender had the most touches (51), completed passes (44) and completed long passes (four) of anyone in the United side and is looking forward to showcasing his tale…
Youri Tielemans is grateful for the respite the international break has provided from a tough start to the season at Leicester City, though he does not regret staying at the club.
Leicester have managed to take just one point from seven matches in the Premier League, losing each of their past six.
Among those defeats have been respective 5-2 and 6-2 losses to Brighton and Hove Albion and Tottenham, with the latter result on Saturday significantly increasing the heat on under-pressure manager Brendan Rodgers.
Tielemans was strongly linked with a move away from Leicester during the most recent transfer window, with the Foxes facing the prospect of losing a valuable asset for nothing when his contract expires at the end of the season.
Although no move materi…

Seven shots, two goals and a Liverpool legend emulated – Salah responds to extra responsibility in v
Mohamed Salah conceded he felt the extra responsibility to score for Liverpool against West Ham after starting without Sadio Mane and Roberto Firmino in the front three.
With Mane ruled out because of a minor injury and Roberto Firmino starting on the bench, there was extra onus on Liverpool s talisman to deliver the goods.
He did so in style, his second-half double putting Liverpool on course for a 3-1 win over the Hammers, moving the defending Premier League champions within four points of leaders Manchester City after playing a game more.
After curling home a 57th-minute opener, Salah then rounded off a sparkling counter-attack following wondrous passes from Trent Alexander-Arnold and Xherdan Shaqiri.
In doing so he became the first player to score 20…
A World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) panel has recommended that Russia should be handed a four-year ban from competing in and also hosting major sporting events.
Russian athletes may once again have to compete as neutrals at the 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo after WADA s independent Compliance Review Committee (CRC) recommended the Russian Anti-Doping Agency (RUSADA) be declared non-compliant.
The CRC believe there should be strong consequences for RUSADA after considering a report from WADA s Intelligence and Investigations Department (I I) and independent forensic experts.
Based on the investigations, CRC determined that hundreds of presumed adverse analytical findings had been removed from a database in a Moscow Laboratory, with underlying raw data and PD…

Karim Benzema is continuing to grow as a leader on and off the pitch after inspiring Real Madrid to the Champions League final, according to head coach Carlo Ancelotti.
The France international leads the scoring charts in this season s competition with 15 goals, which is just two behind Cristiano Ronaldo s all-time record in a single campaign.
That includes back-to-back hat-tricks in the knockout-stage wins over Paris Saint-Germain and Chelsea, and three goals across both legs against Manchester City in the semis.
Benzema is enjoying his best campaign yet in front of goal and will look to round off 2021-22 in style when Madrid face Liverpool in Saturday s final at Stade de France in Paris.
Asked what improvements he has seen in Benzema this season, Ancelo…
AC Milan have a basic agreement with Flamengo to bring attacking midfielder Lucas Paqueta to San Siro, general manager Leonardo has revealed.
The Brazilian side s director of sport Carlos Noval shot down reports that Milan had agreed a €35million deal to sign the 21-year-old in January amid suggestions Liverpool, Barcelona and Paris Saint-Germain are also keen.
Leonardo noted that nothing is set in stone with regards to the attacking midfielder, who has been capped twice by Brazil and has scored nine goals for his boyhood club this season, but added that the two clubs have reached a deal in principle.
We have a basic agreement with Flamengo, but the market reopens in January so we still have a little way to go before the official level, he told reporters.
Paris Saint-Germain have been mentioned last summer mostly for their incoming and outcoming players. There was the Neymar saga that ultimately ended without anything really happening, there was the Mauro Icardi move that occurred on the last day of the window and some other deals both in and out of the club.
But now that the transfer window is over, the club is ready to tie down some of the players they already have at disposal. PSG are hoping to extend the contract of Marquinhos, according to Le10Sport. The 25-year-old defender/midfielder joined the Ligue 1 champions from Roma back in 2013 and has become one of the most important members of the squad at Parc des Princes.
There were talks this summer that PSG rejected a bid from Juventus for the Brazilian and now th…
